“Judge Doom” wants to get Roger Rabbit again!

christopher-lloyd-leatherheads-2008

As Digital Spy published yesterday, Christopher Lloyd (better known for his roles as Judge Doom in “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” and Doc Emmet Brown in the “Back to the Future” trilogy) is very excited about the upcoming Roger Rabbit sequel, and he would like to reprise his role as the evil, red-eyed cartoon who became judge thanks to a couple of zillion simoleons:

Digital Spy - Christopher Lloyd up for 'Rabbit' sequel

Personally, I don’t think Judge Doom comes back from death to haunt Roger, Jessica, Eddie and the gang (neither him or the Toon Patrol). But he can still get into the project, if Bob Zemeckis asks him.

What do you think? =3

While I think he did a terrific performance I really don't want any "villain coming back from the dead" cliche in the new movie. I am reminded of the not so great "Resurrection of Doom" comic. The only way I can see him back in a way that would work for me is if the movie is a prequel that takes place before his death in the original.

I think exactly the same. I don't know how Judge Doom could fit in the sequel. He's pretty dead. The annoying Toon Patrol is also dead for good.

Maybe Christopher Lloyd can play a brand new character, if Bob Zemeckis asks him to be part of this upcoming project.

I do not know if a prequel, but it would be good to see Christopher Lloyd in the scene of the murder of Teddy Valiant (remember that flashback in the comic adaptation, when Eddie remembered?)

As far as I know, the upcoming feature won't be a prequel, so Judge Doom seems a little out of place. He's dead for good, but Christopher Lloyd could still play another character in the sequel :D

As a die-hard RR fan, I might be going against the grain here when I say wholeheartedly... that I don't ever want a sequel/prequel to be made. WFRR? is a piece of art, and I don't want it tampered with and endlessly sequelized like Disney's many other films (Peter Pan 2, Aladdin 2 and 3, CINDERELLA 2... WTF?!?). I'm actually WORRIED that Zemeckis is talking so much about a sequel...

You've got a valid point, Sketch. Many people thinks exactly like you, and personally I believe the original movie can't be surpassed.

But, in the other hand, I think Roger Rabbit (as a character and as a franchise) has a lot of potential. The "cheapquel" days are over. Michael Eisner is out of Disney and he won't come back anymore. Even some key people like Bob Zemeckis and Steven Spielberg are working close to Disney. Zemeckis knows he can't mess with Roger Rabbit, and that's why he's been so criptic with the sequel details. He's avoiding to spill all the beans at once.

I have faith on Zemeckis. Heck, I even liked "A Christmas' Carol". He can't mess with Roger Rabbit.

@Bunnyfriend: We both have valid points, my friend.... yes, Zemeckis seems determined to not ruin the franchise, and all a fan can do is have faith that, if a sequel DOES get made, it gets made RIGHT. All we can do is wait and see... : )

Yep, Sketch that's right... but remember that WFRR was never a "typical Disney movie", so I would not expect a "typical sequel"...

Anyway, whatever Zemeckis do in the future, there is one thing that would remains the same: The original "Who framed RR?" will always be a piece of art...
