Zemeckis’ new project: Yellow Submarine remake

Robert Zemeckis and Disney are in the last agreements about a CGI, MoCap remake of the psychodelical, classic animated feature inspired in some of the most remarkable Beatles’ songs from the late sixties. Yes, I’m talking about Yellow Submarine:

What does this means? Yes, you guessed right: forget about the Roger Rabbit sequel for a while. This kinda saddens me, but in the other hand I’m very eager to watch a contemporary rendition of one of the weirdest animated movies I’ve seen in my life.

You can read the original note on The Disney Blog:

The Disney Blog - Disney, Zemeckis rumored to remake Beatles classic

Well… Right now I have mixed feelings. We were TOO CLOSE to finally having a Roger Rabbit sequel, and right now is going away like the past times it has been rumored. Guess Beatles are way more important than a silly, crazy rabbit :’(

Ugh.. Not to fond of this at all. It is bad enough when Hollywood remake live-action movie after movie these days, but now they even have to remake animated movies?

And of course this will delay the making of a new RR movie, or possibly cancel it completly. It's like the false rumors from the 90's all over again. I was doubting that this sequel was actually gonna happen at first and when I finally got my hopes up this happens.

Yes Alexander, I know how do you feel. In fact, I´m kinda upset and dissapointed. And I don´t know if I´ll have enough energy and enthusiasm to keep running this journal after this finishing blow.

Being a Roger Rabbit fan is a hard thing to be.

I feel your pain Bunny. I tell you what, I will see if I can find some time this weekend and scan another Roger Rabbit comic for your blog. Perhaps that will cheer you up.

Thank you a lot Alexander. Sure that will help me a lot :)

I understand your feelings, but don't be so pessimistic, Bunnyfriend.

Pessimism does not get anyone or anything anywhere.

Let's just keep up the faith that the Roger Rabbit follow-up will still happen and that it's still going ahead.

After all, Zemeckis, et al. seem pretty adamant about making a new Roger film happen, if you ask me.

And with Eisner out of the picture, it's far more likely to happen than it was almost a decade ago.

Let's just hold our heads up high.

I hear ya, Dizneyfan.

When I read about Zemeckis embracing this project, the first thing I thought was: “Great. And there it goes another attempt for bringing Roger Rabbit back again“.

But, now that I think about it, Zemeckis told MTV News that the RR sequel will take some years to come. So maybe we can still have our sequel, after all.

Thanks a lot for the cheers :)

Isn't this kinda sad happening means a test for making RR sequel? Ah, but that film will be made in 3D...I guess I'm wrong then XD;
Though I'm not a Beatles fan, I feel like seeing this film.

Well, this project is quite unrelated to the RR sequel project, but sure Zemeckis could learn a couple of tricks from that 3D animated movie.

I like Beatles' music, but I don't know if this new movie will pay a homage to the original film, or it would take another direction.
