If you’re a hardcore Roger Rabbit fan like us, maybe you’d like to read this excellent article from Jim Korkis at MousePlanet. He give us all the info we know about the 25th. Anniversary of “Who Framed Roger Rabbit”, the gossips about the proposed sequels (Robert Zemeckis and Gary Wolf’s ones) and the troubled life or a rabbit which only purpose in life is making people laugh.
But he also interviews Gary Wolf about the motivation to write a new novel involving the wacky rabbit and his friends, the proposal for “The Stooge” and how he sees Roger Rabbit in his own mind. It’s definitively worth a read, so you can’t miss this article if you love good old Roger or if you want to know a little more about the man behind the rabbit =)
Some days ago, I published that NME was reporting “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” is going to be re-released on November 2013 as a 3D feature.
Sure they don’t have any back-up to their claims, but I know those NME guys and they take things seriously; in fact they own one of the most renowned music and media magazines among alternative audiences, and they usually don’t post false claims (whey they do, they promptly apologize).
Jessica’s owner Jarrod claims it is too soon to cheer up and advise us to take these news with a grain of salt (in fact, I got an e-mail for him asking about the core source of this tidbit of info) and maybe he’s right, since there it comes this sudden revelation out of nowhere. Even I had my own doubts when the trailer of the upcoming Blu-ray release of WFRR was premiered on a YouTube fan channel instead of an official Disney website, until I was proved wrong by the guys at Open Vault Disney.
You know me people. I’ve passed a lot of supposed Roger Rabbit news that are just rehashes of the old news we already know, while another ones are just plain dumb, silly and without any credible backup. My intention isn’t giving you false hopes or try to get more hits telling lies, which only will hurt the reputation I and Alex have gained thru all those years. In fact, after all those years of false starts and empty promises, I still fear we won’t gonna get a prequel, a sequel or even an affordable piece of memorabilia. Heck, I’m even sick of just staring at those Jessica Rabbit statues which cost an arm and a leg to get! Where’s Roger? Oh, yeah, I forgot: he’s not sexy or “hot”. He’s just a dumb old bunny that a lot of people consider obnoxious.
Okay, that was enough ranting for a while. My point is: let’s wait until these news get confirmed. If they are false, I’ll promptly apologize to all of you, expecting some of my credibility will be gone to the trash bin. But let’s hope they are true =)
More good news coming, fellas! NME Magazine catches on the sequel buzz, but also tell us that the original movie, the one which started it all, the one and only “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” is getting a 3D re-release in November 2013 (roughly more than a year ahead) to mark the celebrations of the movie’s 25th. Anniversary.
Aren’t you excited to see the funny bunny and his friends in 3D? Because sure I am! =D
Recently at Disneyland was celebrated the 20th. Anniversary of Fantasmic, in an event exclusive to annual passholders. As you might know, Fantasmic is a very innovative water, music and fireworks show which is conducted by Mickey Mouse. It’s one of Disney Parks’ favorite shows and it has evolved thru all those years. It features several well-known characters from the Disney universe and at some point Roger Rabbit was featured among the cast, but as his popularity waned away he was pulled out from the cast.
So, it was truly a surprise to the attendants of this particular event when in the Grand Finale a Roger Rabbit costumed character appeared among his Disney buddies again!!

I’m a little late, but better late than never, huh-huh!!
Every anniversary I write some words thanking for your support in good times and also through bad times, but this time I won’t write an incredibly long, boring and redundant textwall. It’s time to celebrate!!

Well, in first place let me apologize for the lack of updates on this blog. I never abandoned Toontown Antics, but I’ve had a hard time gathering new info, images or tidbits of trivia related to our favorite and beloved wacky rabbit. Sooooo…
Let’s say I’ve had a very special day today (guess I’ll gonna talk about it in another blog entry) and my old friend and co-admin Alex topped it with a nice surprise that I want to share with all my fellas:
While wandering around the intertubes, Alex found the personal blog of Pete Emslie, who’s a cartoonist and illustrator that worked for Walt Disney World’s marketing department between 1990 and 1994. As many of you remember, Walt Disney World celebrated its 20th. Anniversary back in 1991 and it was a HUGE celebration which involved Roger Rabbit in a very prominent role, since he was the big star of Disney at the time (even bigger than Mickey Mouse, you know). So he was displayed everywhere and even got a huge inflatable figure roaming around the place (recycled from Disneyland’s 35th. Anniversary). It was natural for Pete to use him for a series of promotional prints regarding the theme park’s anniversary, so he pulled out a very neat illustration which you can see here:

Despite all those issues, Toontown Antics is still here.
A couple of years is enough time for proving I’m doing the right stuff. Sure, I’ve had some slumps in my personal life and sometimes I feel like: “what the heck am I doing, since almost nobody is interested in Roger Rabbit and they rather go after Jessica?”. Anyway I’ve been stubborn enough to let this little, humble blog die and all my efforts to keeping it updated and running worth it. Totally worth it
Of course, I’ve had a lot of support from Alex: my co-blogger. He’s always there, searching for more Roger Rabbit related articles, drawings and stuff, and giving me his advice and kind words. Without him, Toontown Antics would be probably a dead project, and I really thank him for his time, patience and wisdom.
But, if you weren’t reading this, we wouldn’t have any reasons to celebrate. That’s why I want to thank all our visitors: frequents, casuals and anonymous. Friend or foes. Lovers or haters. Fans of Roger, Jessica, Eddie, Baby Herman, Judge Doom and the Weasels. Thanks to all of you, for your support and nice comments (and also thanks for all the times we’ve had arguments, why not?)

Yup. I’ve been living three exact years with this little fella (maybe you remember the last year’s entry about my second anniversary with him) and very little has changed since that day.
Or at least, I think so.
Let’s see: Roger gained some much-needed whiskers and his loose tooth, so he isn’t your average Roger Rabbit plush doll anymore. What did I gain? Perhaps several pounds and a lot of knowledge about Roger Rabbit himself, everything related to him and of course the real life outside the rabbit hole.
I’ve had a lot of good stuff and great experiences with Roger. Also some bad stuff came when I couldn’t take control of my emotions, and I hurted him. There are several weird stories too, that are actually funny. But what I really remember with such joy and emotion, was the previous encounter I had with this Roger Rabbit doll before getting him.
At that time, I wasn’t so interested in the rabbit. In fact, knew little about him since the last time I saw him, back in my childhood days. I was collecting another stuff, and my interests were focused to some little spunky, red-haired girl that smells like strawberries. But some day, at the flea market. I spotted him. He was hanging on a grid display, among some other plush dolls and collectibles. Despite my limited knowledge, I recognized him and couldn’t avoid but smile and giggle. He looked really really funny, with his big blue eyes staring at me. A sudden blast of nostalgia caught me, but as soon as it came, it disappeared. I was in fact searching for another doll, so I smiled at Roger for the last time, and said goodbye to him.
Never thought I would bring him to home two weeks later!! (thanks, of course, to the broadcast of “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” on Mexican Disney Channel).
Since January 25th. 2007, Roger Rabbit has been part of my life. Today, January 25th, 2010, Roger Rabbit is still part of my life.
And I love him a lot <3
Today, Toontown Antics is one of the few well-known blogs fully devoted to Roger Rabbit and his fellow friends, and I have some visitors from United States, Mexico, Argentina, Norway and even Japan!
I can’t thank you enough for all the support, for making this dream come true and for keeping it alive when I was in despair. Thanks to everyone: friends and foes, toons and humans, rabbits and weasels, casual visitors and hardcore fans.

Finally, the third part of the Toonography is out! This time, ImNotBadTV talks about Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin and how it was downgraded from the original concept (it was supposed to be a 2-story attraction). There are also some tidbits of info about how Disneyland’s Toontown was originally planned (before it became Mickey’s Toontown), and about the 15th. anniversary of Who Framed Roger Rabbit, that was celebrated with not so much fanfare (yes, just like the 20th. anniversary the last year).

2 years have passed since I got my first Roger Rabbit doll, which is featured above. I brought him to home in January 25th, 2007: exactly two years ago. Remember how much I played with him that day, and took a lot of pictures of me holding him, like this one:
Since that day, Roger became my little partner. I take him out every saturday (carrying him in my case), and I just love how people comes to me and ask me several questions about how I got him, and where they can find their own Roger Rabbit dolls. But what I like the most is when little kids come to me and hold Roger’s hands or nose, while smiling. He also became one of my close confidents, since he knows several secrets about me and my personal life. Maybe he can’t speak (at least, not like my talking Roger Rabbit dolls), but sure he can hear me while I talk with him for hours and hours. I’ve had some issues with him (most of them because my erratic behaviour) but Roger has a heart of gold and he’s always smiling at me, even in the worst situations. He’s a great listener, a great forgiver, but also a great friend and partner. I prefer to let aside those hard moments I had with him, and stay with all the nice experiences we had together.
Maybe you could think I’m a little insane for treating him as a real being, which is kinda true. But even when he’s really a stuffed doll in the shape of a famous rabbit cartoon, I enjoy having him close to me since he represents many of the things I want to achieve in my life, and he’s also one of my biggest inspirations. I really love Roger Rabbit, and hope I can stay with him for a very long time.
